Glass candles

Long before I became a glass artist, I was an enthusiastic art glass lover and collector. I would visit glass exhibits in museums, glass blowing demonstrations, and glass retail stores where I bought my favorite pieces. I love the Netflix series, “Blown Away” (I highly recommend both seasons). So it should come as no surprise that as I’m creating glass décor I am now including glass candles. I make what I love and I have long been a huge fan of candles: as a dinner-table light source, room decoration and romantic, as well as utilitarian, lighting.

When I mention that I’m including glass candles in my repertoire, people look at me in confusion. I am not a glassblower so do not make glass globes - I fuse glass (which tends to be flat but not exclusively). I enjoy creating this art as they are larger than my jewelry while still employing my style, this time with a more subtle aesthetic. My graphics background taught me that good design employs the mantra, “white space is my friend.” While my version of ‘white space’ is very colorful, the décor line has a ‘hero’ graphic element.

In exploring and building the ‘Beaudoin Jewelry style’ for glass candles I enjoy the freedom to design using techniques that are quite different from my jewelry.

Glass candles are the second option - the first being the decorative dishes - that allows men to purchase for themselves, something I’ve wanted to add to my brand. After all, adornment doesn’t stop with our personal statement, it extends to our home, right?
