Mark your calendars! MPAartfest 2021, including Beaudoin Jewelry, returns for its 15th year to McLean Central Park on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Come join the fun and meet the artists for a day of art discovery.
During MPAartfest, McLean Central Park is transformed into a lively landscape of mini art galleries showcasing and offering for sale the work of juried artists from throughout the mid-Atlantic region. This FREE event features contemporary art, live music throughout the day from some of the DC-area’s best musical talents, a Children’s Art Walk, food vendors, and much more.
Beaudoin Jewelry, primarily pendant necklaces and earrings, is very colorful glass made with combinations of metallic-coated layer[s] as the 'hero element'. I often use mosaic trimmers to give the edges a deckled-edge look for interest and/or score the top layer and slightly separate to allow the lower layer to peek through.
My glass décor and glass candles also have metallic hero elements but, because of their size, allow me to utilize the 'white space (strong color) is my friend' design paradigm.
After firing, I grind to refine the shape of my work, fire polish, and, if a décor piece, slump.
